Five For Fighting- "Slices" review and giveaway!

Most of you I imagine have heard of the Grammy Nominated song "Superman" by Five For Fighting singer/songwriter John Ondrasik. Another one of John Ondrasik hits was the song "100 Years", which is one of my favorites. From what we have seen from John Ondrasik's work, he writes personal songs that include messages and deep thoughts. Through his work he is able to connect to people.

In Five For Fighting's new album, "Slices", you will find the following songs...

1. Slice
2. Note To The Unknown Soldier
3. Tuesday
4. Chances
5. This Dance
6. Above The Timberline
7. Transfer
8. Hope
9. Story Of Your Life
10. Love Can't Change The Weather
11. Augie Nieto

I was lucky to get an early peek at "Slices" before it's release date. There was one small disappointment from this latest cd, although over all I was very impressed.

I hadn't really ever listened to other Five For Fighting songs other then the two hits "Superman" and "100 Years". There were a couple of songs I felt sounded simular to passed hits. This is my only complaint. The rest of the album was mixed up more with verity of music, beats and tempo. So overall I was kept entertained.

What makes "Slices" so great is the lyrics to the songs. I love songs that tell a story or that I can relate to. I love being able to lay back, listen to a song and allow my mind to wonder and relax. John seems to have a great talent speaking to you through his songs. Many of these songs are one's I can find myself listening to over and over again, especially "Slice" and "Story of Your Life". In fact several times while listening to Five For Fighting I found myself comparing John to Billy Joel, one of mine and my husbands favorite artist. If you are a fan of Billy Joel, I would defiantly recommend this cd.

I also can't neglect to mention the great support and charactor John Ondrasik has for others as well as our country. Did you know…

* In Feb 2007 John launched a charity driven website – whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com that raises money for various charities when users view video clips provided by visitors to the site. Current views are over 3 million with approx. $300,000 donated!
* John is a dedicated supporter of US Troops, performing for US Forces at Guantanamo Bay, Hawaii, Guam & Japan on USO tours
* John created & produced “For the Troops”, a CD compilation of superstar recordings that is available for free to every active service person in US Armed Forces

I love hearing of successful people giving back and also doing more then just breath in the air of success. I applaud him for his efforts in giving back to our country and people.

Funky Monkey review and giveaway!

It seems that it gets harder and harder to find snacks your children will enjoy, well healthier snacks that is. I was excited when "Funky Monkey Snacks" sent me some free samples to review. You may ask, "What makes these snacks better than most?", the ingredients will show you. "Funky Monkey Snacks" are freeze dried fruit - all natural, with no added sugar, preservatives, colors or flavors. They are gluten-free, wheat-free and dairy-free.

I was sent 3 flavors to sample. My children loved the Bananamon (banana and cinnamon). There really wasn't any flavor they disliked. I like this snack because it is so easy to grab on the go and it is a healthy replacement for chips and candy. Museum Way Pearls review and giveaway! (CLOSED)

Who said diamonds are a girls ONLY best friends? Pearls add just as much elegance and beauty to girl's attire. In fact I feel every women should have at least one pair of pearl earrings and a matching necklace. I was recently contacted by "Museum Way Pearls" I was very impressed with the information given on their site about their products and company. Some of the things that stood out to me was their 90 Day return guarantee, Free Shipping and Free Appraisal. I also liked the fact that Museum Way Pearl has an "A" rating from the Better Business Bureau. Here is some other information I gathered from their site.

"MuseumWayPearls.com is a Boston, Massachusetts-based pearl jewelry company founded in 2005. We feature gorgeous pearl jewelry at prices that are 75% to 80% less than brick and mortar retail stores. Museum Way Pearls leverages strong relationships with the top global pearl suppliers to bring you unparalleled consistency, quality and value.

Museum Way Pearls offers several different types of pearls, including freshwater pearls, Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls, and South Sea pearls. We also have a full line of pearl wedding jewelry as well as a Museum Way Collection, which consists of “Hanadama Pearls." These are considered the highest quality Akoya pearls available from any given pearl harvest.
Some of our most popular pieces include Tahitian pearl necklaces, pink pearl bracelets, Akoya pearl jewelry sets and white South Sea pearl earrings. For more information about the pearls we carry, please visit our Learn About Pearls section."

Review:

I was very excited when Museum Way Pearls offered me a free product to review. I just couldn't turn this opportunity down. I was sent the Cultured Akoya Earrings. Included was a certified appraisal which included a description; White (color), 6.5-7.0mm (size), 90% blemish free and AA+ grade. What really caught my eye was the appraised value of ($300.00). I nearly feel of my chair. I don't thinking I have ever had a piece of jewelry worth this much or more, other then my wedding ring.
Even though the color is white these particular pearl earrings had a rose overtone, which I love. The soft pink gives the pearl such a beautiful and elegant look. You too have a choice of having a silver, rose or ivory overtone on the set you order.

It has been a while since I have had a high quality pair earrings. It is amazing the difference of comfort these earrings had on my ear compared to most. These are the perfect pair of earring to wear to church or on a romantic night out to an elegant resturaunt with my husband. Also, if any men are reading this and are looking for a gift to give their significant other (THINK CHRISTMAS), Museum Way Pearls will help you pick out that perfect gift.

Giveaway:
One winner will receive their own set of Cultured Akoya Earrings!
