Tiara's Boutique Giveaway and Discount!!! CLOSED
For those of you who have been following "Catch the Drift..." for a while, you might remember Tiara's Boutique and her amazing tutu's and fairy wings. If you missed her the first time you have another chance to see her incredible store. I asked Tiara if I could interview her so that we could learn a little more about her and Tiara's Boutique. I think you will all really enjoy hearing what Tiara had to say. This has had to be one of my favorite interviews. I love seeing moms being inspired by their children and then moving forward with their visions. Now for the interview...
Mama Snow- Tell us about yourself.
Tiara- I am a 27 year old mother of three. I have two boys and one girl. My daughter has been the inspiration for all that I do! I made her first pair of fairy wings for a costume she wore on her first Halloween. She began taking ballet classes at 3 and I began making tutus!
I grew up in California, met my husband my sophmore year in high school, he joined the Navy, we got married and began our family! We will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this fall and I couldn't be happier with what we have achieved as a team and as a family!
After nearly a decade of life in the Navy, we are enjoying being able to settle down and stay in one place and finally stay together as a family!
Mama Snow- How long have you been creating tutu's and fairy wings?
Tiara- When my daughter was born I immediately began dressing her in fairy wings and princess attire! The wings that she would wear would quickly begin ripping and became too flimsy to stand up as wings should. When it came around to her first Halloween, nearly 5 years ago, she had to be a fairy! But I couldn't let her wear any old wings that would be trash by the end of the night! I needed wings that would be able to be saved and treasured for generations! I started my search for the perfect pair of wings. After nearly a month of searching online and not finding exactly what I was looking for, and being a very crafty and resourceful person, I decided to try to make a pair myself!
They came out so great I just had to make more!
A couple years later I signed her up for her first ballet classes. I began my search for a tutu, and once again decided to give it a try myself.
Mama Snow- What inspired you to start and create your shop?
Tiara- I was searching for the perfect tutus online. I found some beautiful tutus, but they were all out of my price range! So I started making my daughter tutus for her ballet class. I had so much fun, that I started making her a different tutu for every week. People began asking if they could purchase them and suggesting that I sell them. It was then that I decided to begin my business. Keeping in mind how discouraging it was when I couldn't find something beautiful and high quality that I could afford, I created my shop with the intentions of offering low prices. I believe that every little ballerina deserves to own a beautiful tutu all her own!
Mama Snow- Is Tiara's Boutique a full time/ part time or just a business you enjoy doing on the side?
Tiara- Right now Tiara's Boutique is a full time job, but it is definitely something I enjoy incredibly. It can get a bit overwhelming at times, trying to juggle all the aspects of running a business. You don't realize just how much goes into something like this until you're in it. You think you can just create your product and post it on Etsy and those who like it will buy it, but there is so much more to it. I am responsible for customer service, marketing and advertising, packaging, accounting, and the list goes on. I do however appreciate every minute of it!
Mama Snow- What is one of your favorite creations that you have made for Tiara's Boutique?
Tiara- That's a tough one! My favorites change all the time. My current favorite is Aquamarine.
But I think my all time favorite would have to be Wildflowers.
Mama Snow- Do you have any other amazing hand made items you plan on adding to your store?
Tiara- I try to add new tutus weekly, and wings as often as I can. As it gets closer to Halloween I may bring back some of my popular sewn items like my Minnie Mouse inspired tutu outfit and my Mermaid costumes.
Over the next few weeks I will be adding more mermaid inspired tutus and tutu dresses as well as lots of other summery items including a fun new Hula Girl outfit! Also, in the coming months I will shift my focus toward Halloween! I have already added some new infant sets in the styles we already offer in big girls sizes, like our Baby Pixie set inspired by Tinkerbell. I will be revamping some of the current costumes I offer, like my very popular Ladybug Girl and Bat Girl costumes, and I will be adding a whole bunch of new, afforable tutu creations!
Discount: Tiara is offering 10% off all orders when they mention "Catch the Drift with Mama Snow"!

You Can Make This...(The Name Pillow) review/giveaway! CLOSED
I have been very excited to share with you this next giveaway. I have been a fan of "You Can Make This" for a while now. I am always eyeing their shop and the variety of projects they have available. I don't even know where to start with what they have available. Their is sewing, graphics, photography, shoes... I could go on and on. You can find practically anything you are wanting to find instruction and directions for. This site is a MUST SEE!
I was recently contacted by Courtney, from "You Can Make This" about spotlighting their favorite book, The Personalized Name Pillow pattern. Because of timing and my overbooked schedule, I informed them I would not be able to make the pillow at this time. They were very generous and still sent me a copy to have. Let me assure you, I will be making these when I have a moment to spare. The Personalized Name Pillow is super cute and I feel confident I can accomplish this project from the easy detailed instructions.
I am no pro-seamstress, but I do love to sew. I have made bedding and costumes for my family. Being the visual person that I am I seem to struggle following written instructions. I am always wishing they would use better and more pictures. You Can Make This uses "Real" photos of their step by step instructions. It is so nice to really see and understand what the instructions are trying to say. If you are worried about the letters for your name turning out right, don't worry. There is a patter for each letter provided in the book, which is available to print as the actual needed size. You cannot mess up "You Can Make This" patterns. These books are made for the least experienced and the struggling seamstress like myself.
The Giveaway:
You Can Make This is really feeling generous these days as they are also offering two readers "The Personalized Name Pillow" book. Yes, 2 winners!!!
To Enter: You must visit "You Can Make This" or "You Can Quilt This" and find other patterns you are interested in. Then come back here to comment on what you found.
