National Costume Swap Day (Sat. Oct. 9)

Saturday October 9th is National Costume Swap Day! What is National Costume Swap Day you ask?

This is when you can Costume swap, no matter what size, and this can be a rewarding experience. Not only do your kids get new-to-them costumes to wear for this year’s Halloween festivities, you are saving money AND resources while reducing waste.

In fact, according to Robert Lilienfeld of the Use Less Stuff Report, roughly 25 million children in the United States celebrate Halloween. Swapping just half of their costumes would reduce annual landfill waste by 6,250 tons, equivalent to the weight of 2500 midsize cars! And this doesn’t even address adult costumes.

That’s why Green Halloween®, in partnership with Kiwi magazine, launched National Costume Swap Day. It’s happening each and every year on the second Saturday in October.

To find a local swap near you, visit www.CostumeSwapDay.com to find a participating event. If there are none, why not start one up yourself? It’s simple and not to mention a ton of fun! Register your event here.

Thank you GreenHalloween.org for this great information!

Life As We Know It REVIEW!!

I was recently introduced to gofobo.com, I don't know why I hadn't heard of it before but it is awesome! Here you can be one of the first to see movies before they are released. You may want to check it out ;0)

I was super excited to see there was seats available to go see "Life As We Know It" starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. I was wanting to see this movie so when I got to see it free before it was out, it was a no brainer.

I really enjoyed this movie, I felt as a parent I could REALLY relate. Throughout the movie you will find moment after moment where you can say to yourself, "Been there, done that". Some of these are moments may not been as funny when you were living in them, but they are defiantly funny to watch someone else go through and look back on.

Unlike most of us, the two characters played by Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel were given custody of a child under unique circumstances. Neither really cared for each other and they also weren't married or even dating! Although this will probably really never happen in real life the feelings and insecurities that the characters go through as new parents are all too real. Times you ask yourself, "What was I thinking?, Look at everything I had and threw away...."! I think there are always times in our lives where we ask ourselves these questions, but most of us then realize what a blessing it is to be raising a child. As for the characters and what they learn, you will of course have to watch the movie.

Life As We Know It has a fantastic cast. Not only are Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel great but there are several other great actors and characters in the film. I especially enjoyed the blunt neighbor played by Melissa McCarthy. Her charactor is the over chatty neighbor who sometimes puts her foot in her mouth. You know that neighbor who also loves giving her husband orders and he does it... She is hilarious and does a great job!

The Movie may be a little predictable at times, but that didn't take me away from enjoying the film. Overall this is a very uplifting movie full of life lessons which can motivate us as parents and in our marriage and/or relationships.

Life As We Know It opens in theaters this weekend Oct. 8

Spider Webs and Tombstone Ideas....

My favorite holiday has to be Halloween. I love all the costumes and spooky decorations. So this year I decided that I wanted to change things up a bit and post Halloween Ideas that everyone can enjoy!. I will keep posting ideas as they come so if you have any fee free to email me with them and a link. You can find more details HERE!

To start this off I thought it would be best to share decoration ideas. If you haven't gotten your home or porch decorated yet, you will want to check out some of these fun ideas.

The other day I was at our local craft shop and was in awe with their larger than life "Spider Web" on the ceiling. This gave me a great idea to do the same for our front porch. I figured I couldn't be the only one who has wanted to do this so I began searching the internet and found these great tutorials and pictures. (You can click on the picture to go to the direct link)!
