All three of our kids love to read, and I think that it is because they see us reading. We don't have cable TV, so we read in the evening instead, and we make trips to the library every other week. They just think that reading is something that everyone does.

I set a good example - I read before bed every night, and I always tell them they're welcome to read with me. When they were younger and had set bedtimes, I told them that they could stay up longer if they were going to read in bed. Stay up later? Of course they jumped a the chance! And of course, reading right before bed is relaxing, so they fell asleep quickly when they were done reading.

Right now our favorite healthy snacks include fresh fruit from the farmers market, and veggies from our garden. We make a quick "pizza" by using a wheat tortilla, lighly brushed with olive oil, topped with sliced tomatoes, torn basil, and provolone cheese.
